This easy DIY homemade hair growth oil will give you fast results. It contains powerful carrier oils and essential oils proven to speed up hair growth.
With all the hair products that promise an increased growth rate, some of us would gladly take the bait just to see if the claims have a good basis.
Unfortunately, not all of them live up to the expectations simply because they don’t come without side effects.
Therefore. if you’re sensitive to chemicals that can really be harsh on your hair and overall health, I suggest that you turn your head in the direction of homemade hair growth oil.
In my quest to find the right remedy for receding hairline and slow-growing hair, I came upon a list of natural oils that are highly esteemed for their positive hair results.
You won’t believe how long my hair has grown since I’ve decided to make a combination of all these powerhouse oils.
In this blog, I’m going to show you how each ingredient I’ve used in this recipe actually contributes to an improved hair growth rate.
How To Make Homemade Hair Growth Oil
To make homemade hair growth oil, you’ll need to combine jojoba, castor, argan, lavender rosemary, peppermint, and cedarwood oils.
The idea is to create a recipe that is potent and highly effective by simply incorporating their respective qualities and benefits.
This way, you won’t have to wait too long to actually see results.
While it’s definitely okay to just use whatever essential oils you readily have, the main requirement for this recipe is to make sure you use a carrier oil.
In the case of growth-stimulating hair oil, I recommend using jojoba, argan, and lavender extracts.
This is because they have the best characteristics that greatly improve the rate of hair growth while providing a means to dilute concentrated forms of essential oils.
You should never use pure essential oils alone because they might irritate your scalp and even ruin your hair.
If you don’t have the carrier oils I’ve mentioned here, you may use olive or coconut oil. It is necessary to use the kind that you’re not allergic to.
Benefits Of Jojoba Oil For Hair Growth
Jojoba oil is a wonder remedy not only for skin in which it is best known for but also for your slow-growing hair.
Here’s how jojoba oil works for speeding up your hair growth:
1) It moisturizes your hair from deep within shafts.
Thanks to its 98% monounsaturated fat content, jojoba oil makes for an effective natural hair conditioner that seeps into your strands on a cellular level.
It restores the hair oils which are often stripped away by frequent shampooing.
The result? A healthy, moisturized hair that grows longer.
2) It maintains the natural balance of your scalp.
For an essential oil to be effective as a scalp moisturizer, it has to have a similar molecular composition as natural hair sebum.
Good thing jojoba oil has this quality that doesn’t leave greasy residues on your scalp, but instead works in sync with its natural balance.
By creating a healthy environment for the follicles to grow, the length of your hair can extend a few inches more in a speedy manner.
3) It has anti-dandruff properties.
Jojoba oil is actually used as a dandruff remedy.
It has antibacterial qualities that make it effective in battling itchiness and scaling, which affect the health of the scalp.
By preventing dandruff, your hair can grow naturally long and healthy.
4) It unclogs the follicles.
Jojoba oil actually helps unclog the follicles so that they can grow without a hitch.
Unlike chemical hair products, it doesn’t leave residues on your scalp, which are the culprits in stunted hair growth.
5) It provides a protective coating for heat-treated hair.
Whether you can’t live without blower or hair straightener, you can rest assured that jojoba oil can help protect your hair cuticles from the damage that heat can do to your tresses.
It fills in the gaps created by excessive heat damage and seal split ends. This eliminates the need for you to trim your hair regularly.
The same coating it provides can also serve as a hair gloss after you’ve showered and dried your hair.
Benefits Of Castor Oil For Hair Growth
The antimicrobial properties of castor oil make it one of the most popular remedies for dandruff and scalp conditions.
That said, castor oil contributes to hair growth by eliminating bacteria and fungi that cause your scalp irritation and drying.
Like I’ve earlier said, follicles need a healthy environment for them to grow.
By combating scalp problems, castor oil promotes healthy hair growth.
Benefits Of Argan Oil For Hair Growth
Argan oil is among the common moisturizing agents found in shampoos and hair treatment products.
And why not? This oil has the richest source of oleic and linoleic acids, both of which are useful in lubricating strands.
But it also works from deep within the shafts.
Argan oil can penetrate into each strand to replenish moisture often lost through regular heat treatment and frequent shampooing.
This way, your hair continues to grow without fizzing or splitting.
Benefits Of Lavender Essential Oil For Hair Growth
Lavender oil may be known to you as an aromatherapy stimulant, but it actually promises a healthy hair growth as well.
Here’s how lavender essential oil works on your hair:
1) It stimulates hair growth on a cellular level.
In a 2016 study, it was revealed that lab mice that were treated with lavender essential oil have developed an increased hair volume and grew faster.
This data tells us that it’s indeed effective as a natural hair growth remedy.
The study even recommended lavender oil for people with alopecia and those experiencing temporary hair loss.
2) It prevents fungal and bacterial growth.
With its antimicrobial qualities, the lavender essential oil can prevent scalp itchiness, scaling, and even dandruff.
This means your scalp remains protected from harmful external factors that negatively affect the growth of follicles.
3) It adds a natural fragrance to your hair.
By this, I mean you won’t need to use shampoo or conditioner that have a chemical-based fragrance to make your hair smell good.
This eliminates the possibility of allergic reactions since most hair products contain concentrated amounts of chemicals.
Benefits Of Rosemary Essential Oil For Hair Growth
Don’t disregard rosemary as simply a herb added to savory foods.
It’s much more than just a spice you keep in the pantry.
In fact, a study conducted in 2015 revealed that rosemary essential oil is actually as effective in boosting hair growth as minoxidil, which is a known prescription medication for alopecia and hair loss.
This makes it a good alternative to other hair products that promise you a longer mane easily but are not suitable for all hair conditions.
Rosemary oil is natural, so you don’t need to worry about allergic reactions. Of course, it does smell good as well so you don’t need to apply perfumed hair products.
Benefits Of Peppermint Essential Oil For Hair Growth
The menthol in peppermint essential oil is what basically makes it ideal for hair growth.
Want to know why?
It’s because it stimulates the blood circulation on the scalp, which in turn increases the supply of oxygen and other nutrients to the hair shafts.
Peppermint oil’s menthol tends to dilate the blood vessels, which gives way to more blood flow on the head and eventually the scalp.
In fact, peppermint essential oil is a common ingredient in many hair products not just for its cooling effect and anti-dandruff properties, but also for its fragrance and growth-promoting qualities.
Benefits Of Cedarwood Essential Oil For Hair Growth
Cedarwood essential oil helps in growing your hair long using a simple mechanism: it balances the oil-producing glands in your scalp.
By doing so, it creates an environment conducive to hair growth and prevention of alopecia.
In a recent study, cedarwood, along with rosemary and lavender, has been proven to be effective in the cure of hair loss while also increasing hair volume.
Benefits Of Massaging Head For Hair Growth
In a 2016 study, it was revealed that a 4-minute scalp massage every day can promote hair growth.
The process works this way: the kneading effect on your scalp dilates the microscopic arteries, which in turn increases blood flow to the follicles.
Now that you know the trick, try to observe this routine whenever you take a shower.
You can use a combination of essential and carrier oils to double the effect of hair growth stimulation.
DIY Homemade Hair Growth Oil Recipe For Fast Results
You don’t have to include all of these ingredients if you don’t have them. Just use what you have, or start off with one carrier oil (jojoba, castor or argan, or even use olive oil or fractionated coconut oil if you have that), and one essential oil, and work your way up to all of the ingredients.
The essential oils will only be effective if you buy good quality, pure essential oils, so I have linked to proven brands that are very powerful and completely pure.
