Here is everything you need to know to plan a home spa party that will blow your guests away. Get the exact routine, tips, and ideas to make this a success.
Are you running out of ideas for your next house party?
If you’ve grown tired of the exact same themes for your get-together occasions, I suggest you try throwing a fun spa party at home.
This is a unique idea for all ages. Yes, including kids!
But don’t be intimidated by planning this event.
Surprisingly, it’s pretty easy even for beginners to tackle.
I’ve collected some hacks to help you breeze through the preparation basics.
How To Plan An Unforgettable Home Spa Party: 10 Easy Steps
1. Determine First The Theme Of The Spa Party
This should be easy.
To whom the occasion is for?
If it’s for your daughter’s birthday, then you can try a Disney Princesses-themed spa party.
They can play-pretend they’re Cinderella, Belle, Snow White, or any other fairytale princess who are all having some pampering.
Actually, I find this theme easier since there are lots of supplies available for making party favors.
But instead of the usual sweets and toys, your little princesses get individual spa kits.
On the other hand, if you’re the one who’s hosting the party, you can start with a Hollywood-themed spa.
You can make decors, invitations, and treatment labels that remind you of popular movie stars.
The same can be done with a “royalty theme” spa party. You can transform your quarters into a castle complete with plushiest “thrones” and indulgent treatments.
The possibilities are endless. You can search on Pinterest for other ideas.

2. Make A List Of Guests And Determine The Length Of Their Stay
What I do after I’ve decided on a spa theme is to write down my guests’ names.
This is important since you’ll need to see if your house can accommodate as much.
Although you can extend the spa area to your lawn, you’ll probably need to prepare rooms for those staying over.
So decide afterward how long your spa party will last.
3. Purchase Ingredients And Make Your Own Spa Treatments Ahead Of Time
Now it’s time for some shopping. Nope, you won’t spend a lot on this party.
What you’ll need to purchase are the ingredients you’ll use for making DIY spa treatments.
If you’re pressed for time, buying individual spa kits is okay. You’ll just have to adjust your budget according to the number of your guests.
Otherwise, you can just make your own treatments since they won’t cost you a lot and they’re easy to do.
You can make DIY body scrubs, facial masks, foot soaks, bath bombs, and almost anything that you’re ready to offer your guests.
I have a few spa recipes posted on this blog. You can use them for making your own spa treatments.
Should you make them ahead of time? It’s advisable, though not necessary.
You can show your guests how you do the treatments as part of your bonding session.
You can find loads of spa treatment recipes and more here.

4. Prepare The Spa Tools And Equipments And Set Them In Place
Next up the list is the actual spa setup.
Simply lay down your small spa tools on a table or place them inside baskets and caddies.
You may also want to buy quality towels and robes for each of your guests. Keep them neatly arranged in a cabinet or drawer.
If you’ve made your own DIY candles, arrange them along with your bath or even around the room. You may want to dim your lights, so it’s ideal if you can adjust your light fixtures.
Examples of spa tools you might need are self-massager, spatulas, basins, blackhead remover tools, and pedicure kit.
Let’s not forget the bigger equipment, too. If you have a portable sauna, you can share it with your guests.
They can take turns using it. It’s a good treatment after enjoying a bath.
Speaking of the bath, you may opt to share the soaking space with your guests so everyone gets in simultaneously.
Also, if you have an electric diffuser, facial steamer, and the likes, you should bring them out for everyone’s enjoyment.

5. Plan Your Playlist
I love planning what music to play in the background as my friends and I enjoy pampering.
It doesn’t have to be classical. Unless you want your guests to try something new, I suggest having them listen to more familiar tunes like old blues and jazz.
For our little girls, the playlist would entirely be different.
As I’ve earlier suggested, a Disney Princesses-themed spa party should be complemented by the OST of each fairytale movie.
This will perk up the kids’ interest and would make them stay longer in the party.
Aside from the playlist, plan also how you’re going to have it heard.
A personal favorite is this bamboo amplifier that matches the interior decors of my spa area.
This is applicable if you use your phone.
Otherwise, you can rely on the old vinyl and gramophone to create an old-time feel. It will help make your Hollywood spa theme a hit.

6. Plan Your “Spa Menu”
Of course, the important part of the party is the food.
Since the spa is all about pampering and natural ingredients, I recommend you work around a healthy menu.
It may consist of fruits, veggies, unprocessed foods, and low-fat smoothies.
You may substitute red or white wine for the smoothies if you prefer something classy.
As for kids, you can make them finger foods that not only tasty but are also healthy.
Make smoothie popsicles for dessert ahead of the party date to save you time.

7. Pack Individual Spa Kits For Your Guests
Once you’re done making DIY spa treatments, package them into individual kits.
Use unique labeling for your items so your guests can have souvenirs as well.
This also goes for kids’ party favors. Wrap the kits in attractive, girly packages with personalized name tags.
Adult guests prefer spa essentials in a basket, so buy those in wholesale.
This is the type of basket I like to use for my spa kits.

8. Decorate Your Spa Area
Work around the theme when decorating the house for a spa part.
Glamorous setup is preferable for a Hollywood theme, while nature-inspired is ideal for channeling a zen spa theme.
But generic items should not be missed such as green plants, aromatic candles, and florals.
I like to use these products to decorate my spa area:
9. Allot 1 or 2 DIY Sessions As Fun Activities
This is what I meant when I said you may make DIY treatments on the same day of the party.
You can use this opportunity to have bonding and learning sessions with your guests.
Kids are usually excited about such activities. They can even replace the usual parlor games in kiddie parties.
I suggest that you try making body scrubs and facial masks because they’re quite easy and fun.

10. Send Personalized Invites To Your Guests
Once everything has been prepared, you can now send invitations to your guests.
Make it personalized so that they may feel special.
Basically, the design of your invites should be based on your spa party theme.
There are hundreds of inspirations from the internet that you can copy and edit to save you time.
