This is an easy, relaxing DIY spa night routine including homemade spa treatments, spa bath, beauty recipes, remedies and spa night snacks. Perfect for having a spa night with friends, at home by yourself, for kids, for tweens or teens, or a romantic date night for couples.
Planning to throw a spa party but worried about guests coming in late?
Or you’ve just grown tired of the usual candle-light anniversary dinners with your husband?
Even if you’re just alone, with the kids or celebrating any occasion, I suggest that you try a pampering session—in the evening, that is.
I used to think that daytime is the best opportunity to do a spa at home.
But certain circumstances such as errands and conflicting schedules made me reconsider doing it at night.
And I wasn’t disappointed.
Sounds interesting? I’ll show you how I did it.
15 Steps To The Perfect DIY Spa Night
1. Set A “Night Mode” Spa Ambiance
Nothing makes a spa night more welcoming than the mood it creates.
This is why it makes sense to set the “night mode” on in your preferred rooms for a spa session
To recreate the ambiance of an actual spa center, it’s best to dim the lights.
If your light fixtures don’t come with dimming functionality, you can just switch off a few overhead bulbs.
This way, your space is not blasted with glaring fluorescent lighting which may not be suitable for relaxing your eyes.
Before I forget, there’s still the option of surrounding your “spa room” with lighted candles.
This is highly preferable even during the day because it lends warmth in the room.
It makes the space cozy enough to just let your guests de-stress throughout the night.
2. Lay Down The Beddings For A Spa Slumber Party
This is perfect for kids, tweens, and teens who would like to invite over their friends and spend the whole night together.
It’s a good excuse to snuggle and have a wholesome good time.
To do this, turn the guest room into a dorm complete with floors carpeted with beddings to accommodate everyone.
You can also include plenty of throw pillows for when they want to lounge around after finishing spa treatments.
Likewise, if you’re feeling generous, you may get them each their own pajamas.
It works especially when one of your kids is celebrating a slumber party theme.
3. Make Infused Water Hours Before The Spa Session
Refreshments should also be included in the spa night menu.
To make it healthy, opt for lemon water or any other fruit-infused water.
Serve it in a large spouted jar, with the fruits soaking well in it for at least 2 hours.
You can garnish individual glasses with a slice of citrus or a berry and let your guests pour their own drink.
It is best if you can keep the beverage chilled. A jar with fruit and ice infuser chamber is ideal for this.

4. Prepare Spa Kits For Each Guest
This is a must for hosting a spa night party at home.
Unless you have the budget to buy each guest a pre-packed kit, I suggest that you build your own spa packages from scratch.
You’ll need caddy-like containers to fill with spa goodies such as body scrub, facial mask, foot soak, and hair spa treatment. I like these containers.
As for the DIY recipes, you can use a few ingredients from your pantry.
The best thing about holding a spa night is that you have half a day of preparation to make fresh creams and scrubs.
Aloe vera is a good hair conditioning mask. Prepare some ahead of time by scooping out the gel part and store it in a mini jar. These are the jars I use to store my ingredients in.
For your mom, you may opt for some moisturizing facial creams to keep her skin supple.
If you’re pressed for time, you can just include a small bottle or vial of apple cider vinegar. This is to be diluted with water needed for the foot soak. This brand of apple cider vinegar is the best.
Other spa treatments can be made as a group activity to liven up the mood.
As their freebies, you can include a pair of indoor slippers for each of your guests.
If you don't want to use caddy-containers for your spa kits, you can use jars instead. Watch the video below showing you how to make a spa kit in a jar.

5. Send Out Invites With A Creative Nighttime Theme
You can get witty with your invitations.
Use an owl, half-moon caricature and other images that suggest a night time activity.
Of course, you should couple it with clip arts of spa essentials to entice your guests.
Handmade invites are preferable, but you can always just send the news via email.
Make sure they RSVP so that you’ll get a headcount a day before the spa party.
After all, you’ll need to prepare enough room for all of your invited.
Also, you should make a personalized card for your own mom on Mother’s Day if you’re planning to treat her to a spa bonding.
6. Groom The Bathroom With Spa Essentials
It’s ideal if you have an indoor tub big enough to hold a few people.
That way, you won’t need to make individual bath bombs because two or three ladies can share the bath at once.
Simply place the bath bombs near the tub, preferably in a jar away from moisture.
Put down a tray nearby that can hold spa essentials such as a loofah, bristled brush, essential oils, and shower cap.
Place clean towels in the dry area of the bathroom, neatly folded or rolled in a cabinet.
Otherwise, just let your guests bring their individual spa kits to the bathroom when it’s their turn.

7. Harvest or Buy Your Botanicals For The Bath
They include herbs and flowers that you can obtain for free or for a little amount.
If you’re going to purchase them, you can either buy fresh or dried.
Rose petals are popular infusers in bath water which is why I pick them myself when I can.
You can just buy a bouquet of fresh roses from a florist and manually pick each petal.
But if you can't get any form of fresh herbs or flowers, you can get some of the herbs & flowers that I use often here:
8. Build A DIY Snack Bar
This means you’ll let your guests pick from a buffet of finger foods that are healthy yet filling.
The menu may include crackers, slices of veggies, dips, fruit chunks, clubhouse sandwiches, and oatmeal cookies.
9. Create A DIY Bath Tea Bag-Making Activity
It is a good idea to allow your guests to experience making their own tub tea recipe.
Lay down your botanicals and infusers on a clean table and let your friends pick their desired combinations.
Give them each a muslin tea bag to stuff their mixes in.

The lavender essential oil can help relax the kids for a peaceful sleep.

12. Pack Handmade Souvenirs For The Guests To Take Home
These serve as loot bags that your guests can use when they get home.
You can give them handmade scented candles, bath tea bags or DIY body scrub.
The DIY body scrub can be made of brown sugar or salt as a mild exfoliant. Coupled with your preferred essential oil, they can be given as take-home presents to your guests.

13. Create A Spa Playlist
Classical music is highly preferred, but you can curate your own playlist based on the individual taste of your guests.
Be it pop, RnB or mellow, just sync your songs in a handy player.
14. Prepare Leave-On Facial Masks
What is a spa night without masks that you can leave on ‘til the morning?
Let your DIY facial masks soak in your faces.
You can use shea butter, oatmeal, milk, honey, and avocado for making these masks.
